eChef 1.2.5 Released

Version 1.2.5 of eChef is now available to download. This free update introduces official support for 64-bit operating systems, and improves stability and performance. It is recommended for all users.

Changes in this version:

64-bit operating systems are now supported (eChef will run in 32-bit mode via WOW64).
Improved performance when adding many recipes to a collection or shopping list.
Fixed a crash-causing bug and improved performance when deleting many recipes.
Fixed several bugs that could cause crashes when importing recipes.
Fixed a bug that would cause a crash when attempting to delete original files after import without the privileges necessary to do so.
Improved reliability when printing.
Improved reliability when exporting to Outlook notes.
Fixed a bug that would cause a crash if a recipe was sent to the Recycle Bin, but the operation was canceled.

Version 1.2.4 of eChef is now available to download. This free update fixes some bugs present in 1.2.3, and is recommended for all users.

Changes in this version:

Fixed a bug preventing links in recipes or other windows from opening in a web browser when clicked.
Updated the installer’s code signing certificate.

Create a Recipe Website with Google Sites

If you're looking to create an easy and free website from which to share your eChef collection, head on over to Google Sites. Your site can include photos, blog posts and "file cabinets" for recipe file sharing. Google Sites is a great and simple way to start your own food blog or to create a collaborative recipe sharing site with friends and family.

Exchange recipes using Google Groups

Google Groups is just one great way to exchange eChef recipe files. In addition, group members can use the discussion boards to share tips on cooking and using eChef. Be sure to check out the first eChef User group at http://groups.google.com/group/echef-users. We've even uploaded a few of our favorite recipes for sauces and beverages to get the ball rolling. So far, there are over 250 recipes available for you to download and import into your own collection!

We hope to see many more eChef-themed Google Groups in the future. Happy recipe sharing!

Enjoying what's in season: Asparagus

Asparagus is in season, and we just got a huge shipment from the family farm. Problem? Nothing that a quick search in eChef can't fix!

Warm Leek, Asparagus and Potato Salad is a great way to incorporate asparagus into your Memorial Day picnics. For a more formal meal, try Steamed Asparagus with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Almond Salsa as a side dish with a Spring-Green Asparagus Soup starter.

Our favorite asparagus recipe here at eChef is Oven-Roasted Asparagus with Pine Nut Dressing. The touch of citrus and cilantro makes this a bright and refreshing dish. We don't suggest substituting parsley for cilantro in this recipe, but that's only because we think that people who don't like cilantro are crazy!

Version 1.2.3 of eChef is now available to download. This free update fixes some bugs present in 1.2.2, and is recommended for all users.

Changes in this version:

Fixed a bug causing Cook Time to not be read from recipe files.
Updated URLs to point to echefsoftware.com.
Updated the splash screen logo.
Fixed a bug that would completely prevent license code entry if system clock tampering was detected.

Add "Farmers Market" as a Grocery Category
